Our Programs

Programs designed for the early childhood age group vary in their content, purpose and theoretical base. Any program used with children works best when the child and educator have a strong, respectful and responsive relationship.

Early Years Learning Framework

Our programs are based on the nationally approved Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The EYLF describes the principles, practice and outcomes essential to support and enhance young children’s learning from birth to 5 years of age, as well as their transition to school.

The Framework has a strong emphasis on play-based learning as play is the best vehicle for young children’s learning providing the most appropriate stimulus for brain development. The Framework also recognises the importance of communication and language, including early literacy and numeracy, and social and emotional development.

Educators also plan experiences and activities for children based on our centre philosophy and goals, on their knowledge of child development, on observations of individual children and their needs and interests. Educators program in child-free times and programs are continually evaluated to ensure they meet the developmental needs of the children in the group.

Montessori Curriculum

Our daily programs incorporate a Montessori curriculum.

Montessori is a child-centred approach to learning – it views the child as one who is naturally eager to gain knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment.

The Montessori method of education reinforces and enhances the principles of the EYLF by valuing the human spirit and the development of the whole child – physical, social, emotional and cognitive.

Children with a Montessori foundation are confident in their ability to acquire knowledge, solve problems, and cope with new information and experiences.

These form their blueprint for becoming successful students in the years ahead.

Kindergarten Program

Our Kindergarten Program is based on the EYLF and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and aims to enrich children’s learning in the Kindergarten year, ie the year prior to the Prep year of schooling.

The program is delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and is embedded within the Kindy Garden Room daily activities and routine.

The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines provide specific advice to support teachers to strengthen children’s sensing of belonging, being and becoming and learning is promoted through play, and emergent and planned learning experiences and interactions.
